Beginner's Guide to Youth Work

25.03.2020

In the end of February, group of four people from Slovakia participated in Training course "Beginner's Guide to Youth Work" which was held in small city called Řičany, probably around 20 kilometers from Prague.

Most of us arrived later that day but that didn't stop us from meeting other participants from countries like Greece, Spain, Italy, Estonia, Latvia, Czech Republic and Poland.

The very next day our journey started with essentials like getting to know each other, team buildings and non-formal learning in general. The upcoming days were focused on main skills which every leader should have, such as Communication, Critical thinking, Leadership, Youth Working tools and so on. We were doing various activities to improve our skills. For example, working with blind eyes, working without talking in teams and having debates full of different opinions.

We even visited Prague. One of the facilitators, Lukas showed us many places there which aren't frequently visited by tourists and at the end of the day we had a lovely dinner with a beer (which is a must in Czech Republic). Despite the fact it was a training course, we still had cultural nights which were amazing after the long days of hard work.
