Three Months of My ESC Journey in Trnava

Hello everyone!

My name is Tanya, and I am a volunteer at Youth for Equality. Today, I would like to share what I have been doing during the last four months in our organization.

Every month, we organize a Board Game Night, as well as an Art Club and an English Speaking Club. These events bring together people who want to practice their English, meet new friends, and spend time in a welcoming and international environment.

In May, me and my co-volunteer Valeriiaa are organized a Bingo Night, which was a great opportunity for participants to have fun and connect with each other.

Another important part of our work was participating in Earth Day in March, where we represented our organization and helped organize activities for children. We prepared educational games about recycling, taught participants how to sort waste correctly, and challenged them to guess how long different items take to decompose in nature.

We also took part in Europe Day celebrations in May. For this event, we created a quiz about Europe. Participants answered questions, collected stamps for each correct answer, and exchanged them for small prizes.

One of my main responsibilities is managing social media. I create posters, design posts, and help promote our organization’s activities online, making sure our projects reach a wider audience.

In May, I participated in the preparation and delivery of workshops at a local school as part of the Mind Over Screen project. During these workshops, I helped facilitate discussions on important topics related to the digital world and its impact on young people’s lives, encouraging participants to reflect on healthy and responsible online behavior.

At the moment, I am actively involved in the preparation of the City Health Week festival, where volunteers from different countries will come together. As part of this event, I am helping organize a Health Festival focused on well-being and healthy lifestyles. My tasks include preparing activities, energizers, games, and other interactive events to ensure that the festival is both educational and engaging for participants of all ages.

When I started my volunteering journey with Youth for Equality, I expected to gain international experience, meet people from different countries, and improve my communication skills in English. Over the past four months, my expectations have been fully met and even exceeded.

Through participating in various events and projects, I have learned how to work more effectively in a team, organize activities, plan events for people of different ages, and take responsibility for completing tasks. Working with social media has helped me develop my creativity, improve my content creation skills, and learn how to communicate information more effectively to a wider audience.

In addition, I have become more confident in using English, learned how to work in an international environment, and adapted to new situations. This experience has shown me the importance of cooperation, mutual support, and being open to new ideas. I am confident that the knowledge and skills I have gained will be valuable not only during my volunteering experience but also in my future personal and professional life.

These four months have been full of new experiences, learning opportunities, and unforgettable memories. Volunteering has allowed me to meet inspiring people, develop new skills, and contribute to meaningful projects that make a positive impact on the community.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my volunteering journey. I am excited to continue this experience, take part in new projects, and create even more amazing memories with Youth for Equality in the future!
