I joined the youth exchange project „Migrant Lisa“ in Râmnicu Vâlcea, Romania, in July, and I took part as a participant from Slovakia. There were also people from Turkey, North Macedonia, Sweden and Romania. It was a small city but really nice and calm, and we also did a city tour together which I liked a lot.
The project was about migration, refugees and asylum seekers. During the week we had different activities, and one of the parts I enjoyed the most was when we made a small theatre play about the topic. It was fun to prepare it with the others and it helped us understand the subject in a more real way. One of the things I learned was the actual meaning of „asylum seeker“, because before I didn’t really know the difference, so for me that was something new to take from the project.
For me one of the best parts was also the time we spent together after the sessions. We used to hang out outside and talk, and those conversations with the people I met there are the moments I remember the most. Meeting people from different countries and sharing time with them was really valuable for me, and I left the project happy and glad that I joined.
